Dr. Juan Pablo Barrenechea
Graduated at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium in 1966. Postgraduate training in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium in 1972. Head of the Division of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. Instructor of Postgraduate medical education at our Institution. Dr. J.P. Barrenechea is Past-president of the Bolivian Society of Cardiology, Past-president of the Bolivian Society of Surgery, founder and Past-president of the Bolivian Society of Transplantation, founder of the Bolivian Academy of Medicine and founder of the Institute of Bioethics at the Catholic University in Cochabamba. His contributions in the field of cardiology, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery and organ transplantation are well recognized and since 1989 has been actively involved in the preparation of the transplant law and in defining the basic rules for the practice of organ transplantation in Bolivia.
