PHYLOSOPHY OF PATIENT CARE AND GOALS

Since the beginning, a change in mentality was considered necessary, not only in the handling of medical cases but also in the behavior of the medical staff in terms of organization and administrative management, based on the following basic principles: A well trained, complete and homogeneous group of people with the same goals and ideals. All doctors would resign private practice and working in any other institution. All doctors would accept a monthly salary. All income must be put into a common fund. All doctors would give up profits, reinvesting profits for self-support, growth of the Institution and medical assistance to people with limited income.

Medical care has been provided free or partially charged, to many thousands of patients according to the economical support of the patient itself or institutions helping them. The Hospital provides medical care to individuals under insurance coverage of the National Health Service in the broad field of cardiology and renal transplantation with very reduced costs for attention, many times not even covering professional fees, and in many cases do not even cover the cost of the disposables used. The Hospital provides this medical care within the framework of social assistance and projection to the community, principally in the specialties in which we know that we are the only ones that can give them this type of attention, particularly in the field of cardiac surgery, invasive cardiology and organ transplantation.
